European Adventures - Day 6

Today was breakfast at a place near the Duomo. Nice pastries and cappuccino. We then visited the Duomo in all its glory. Nice paintings on the ceiling and old pillars holding the structure up.

We tried to go to the fort at the end of the island but it appeared to be closed.. The gale force winds from the previous day appeared to have blown down a gate though.
We continued to walk around the island with the rising sun. The views from the edge of the city were stunning, clear blue/green.

After a spot of washing we went to the Archaeological site on main part of Syracusa. The site contained a large Greek theatre, the biggest altar and the largest Roman amphitheatre in Sicily.

We walked back to Octagia and had a beer on the way stopping at some ruins. We picked up some supplies and had some vino, cheese, sundried tomatoes in olive oil and olives. Yum! Enzo took us on a quick tour of the streets showing us the different balconies and architecture. We played cards till dinner time which Jim and I won. Dinner was at a local family owned restaurant.
