European Adventures - Day 2

Day 2 - Sunday

Today we had a big walk around Rome, after a nice breakfast at the hotel we stated quite early around 8.30 and headed to Trevi fountain stopping in on a random church on the way which was amazing, then on to the Spanish steps close by. Walking the streets early was nice and peaceful.

After the steps we made our way to Pantheon and again stopping in on some basilica. The Pantheon was beautiful, so old! We then went to the Campo de' Fiori markets where we grabbed a bite to eat.

After that we headed to the Il Vittoriano which was my favourite, we managed to find the glass elevator that after paying 7 euro, takes you right to the top for uninterrupted views of Rome. It was absolutely stunning.

We then headed back to the hotel to have a rest and grabbed a coffee for 0.90c. Bargain. After a rest we met up with Mum, Dad and Janine at the Termini. We went out for lunch before making our way to the Airport, giving Janine her NZ goodies.

Metro of Rome
Our flight to Sicily was leaving soon so we made our way to the airport and said our goodbyes to Janine as she went back to London. We told her we would see her in 3 weeks back in London! Flight to Sicily was majorly delayed and not a very good airline but we made it. Had some drama with hiring the car as the bags wouldn't fit in the boot… We had organised to have room for 4 large suitcases to fit in the boot. They upgraded is for free though… Dad then had a nervous experience, driving from the airport to the hotel in the middle of Palermo at 10pm at night. Kate and I were so tired so after I had a beer, we hit the hay.
